Backlinks + Content = Win

There is no denying it – no-one likes link-building now because of how difficult it is to do it, and to do it right. There are no quick wins and if you want to ensure longevity with your campaign, you had better be prepared to look at the bigger picture. Get it wrong and you might instead be asking me to clean your backlink profile. This is why so many hate linkbuilding, but it is very much a necessary requirement.

If you are happy to be in this for the long haul, then continue reading – I don’t offer just a handful of links for a set price. I only offer link acquisition campaigns of 3+ months, although I can manage specifics, if you wish.

Which do you need – link building or link acquisition?

There are many companies offering link building services with spammy, bulk link packages on offer for 10-a-penny. These will do you no good… Google are constantly updating their algorithms to ensure links are earned and not simply ‘built’. I follow the same rule – my clients gain links that have been earned rather than purchased or simply built.

There is no quick win when it comes to linkbuilding

By its very nature, earning links is different to simply building links. There are no tricks; no tiered systems; no “buy 10, get something free“; no PBN’s (Private Blog Networks); no risky link-for-product; no link-injection; no promise of “50 links or your money back”.
The only long-term, scalable approach to link acquisition now, is by following completely ethical practices that will never bring down a Penguin penalty, and that is what you will get… Links that will continue to deliver.

How I can help

We have established that, for the most part, no-one really likes link building. Preparation

It helps to know first of all what your goals are, and then plan accordingly. The initial plan will be tailored to your specific requirements.

Research

There are a number of stages to the research process. This comes in the form of looking at the link landscape, your competitors, industry pundits and thought leaders, Social Media and much more.

Analysis

Once the research is complete, I analyse the sources, competitors, potential for acceptance and other factors that will be important during the content creation and outreach stages.

Linkable Assets & Content

This is possibly the most important part of the project. Without link-worthy content, you will be met with rejection time after time. With data gathered from millions of posts, I can outline the best possible ideas that are likely to lead to natural link acquisition.

Prospecting

When your content is decided, it’s then time to see who is going to be able to help seed it through social channels. If there are sites that should link to your assets, I find out who is the best contact to do this and how should they be approached.

Outreach

Universally hated, outreach is where you have to start trying to make contact with individuals while you pitch your request for a link, but without it sounding like you are asking for a link. It’s trickier than it sounds! Over the years, I have developed a number of techniques that work well and if I can’t find the right person to talk to, I simply pick up the phone – it can work wonders, but you do need to be tenacious as there is often a degree of chasing people around.

Social Sharing

There is little point in creating amazing content without shouting to the work about it. Social Media is the perfect way to do this, and with an audience of billions, you will be surprised at just what can be achieved. Aside from being able to gain natural links, you can also pull traffic through to your site. This is generally people who are interesting in your niche, so it is not an aspect to miss. If you have no real Social Media strategy, talk to me about creating one.

These are two of the most important factors that Google looks at. You need to be doing both

The quality of your link profile will help Google form a picture of how trustworthy you are. If this isn’t natural, links can then work against you.
